 Who We Are
Our founder and CEO Hermann Engelmann came to Apopka, Florida (just north of Orlando) in 1971. Where others saw swamps, alligators and hot, humid weather, he saw opportunity for a large scale greenhouse operation that would produce high quality exotic foliage.
Today, almost 35 years later, Hermann Engelmann Greenhouses consists of nine locations totaling 2.8 million square feet of glass greenhouses.
Apopka, itself, has become known as the "Foliage Capital of the World."
Our company employs 250 dedicated people and grows more than 400 varieties of indoor foliage plants. Our Exotic Angel Brand® logo is known all over the world as a symbol of quality and innovation. And Herman Engelmann, CEO, has been joined at the helm of this growing enterprise by his son, Wolfgang Engelmann, who serves as president/COO. Wolfgang represents the fifth generation of family history in horticulture. He will soon be joined by the sixth generation: Andrew, Victoria, Lauren and Hermann, Jr.

Company founder and CEO Hermann Engelmann personally travels the world searching for new exciting varieties to enhance our assortment and your selection of Exotic Angel Plants®. All of our plant labels are color coded for light requirement and carry plant-care instructions. Each plant also wears our Exotic Angel Brand® logo, which promotes recognition, plant collecting and, most importantly, repeat business.
Our success is grounded in our pioneering spirit and the fine people who nurture and stand behind each and every Exotic Angel Brand® foliage plant and Swinging Angel® basket.
